Eve Sky Socks finally finished!

My resolve was to make everyone socks for Christmas this summer vacation. Ha! I spend all summer on these, but it was worth it. This was made on my Decor Accents EFG Sock Loom. They have 6 1/2 inch cuffs. This makes me appreciate good lighting and my no-line bifocals ;-D

These will be my last top down socks. I find when you come to the end to close the toe, the trouble is not so much the zig zag join or even the kitchener stitch; it's the long yarn you have to use which kinks and shreds.

So once I get my DA EFG WonderLoom, I'm going to experiment with toe up socks making use of waste yarn, which is a few rows of contrasting color yarn knitted first to use as a stitch holder.

Whew, I'm sooo glad these are done! Posted by Picasa

Here's a few inches of the sock cuff completed. I love the pools of color. The name of this yarn is Night Sky. Posted by Picasa

Beginning of Sock on Decor Accents EFG Sock Loom

Despite my big tangle troubles winding the skein, this yarn is a joy to work with. I love the variegated view! Posted by Picasa
Here is the finished ball. I did encounter a big tangle at the end few yards but stuck with it and got it all untangled and wound. Posted by Picasa

Beginning of Ball

Here is my start on the winding. Posted by Picasa

First Try at Ball Winding

This is the first time I wound a hank into a skein using a ball winder. Here is the yarn laid out on the table. I do not have a yarn swift, I hope to find a good buy on one someday. Posted by Picasa

Finished first stock of Moda Dea Crayon Sassy Stripes Yarn

I am still getting the hang of making socks on the knitting loom. It is getting faster and better and so much fun. This is a great portable summer project! Posted by Picasa

3 Lovely sets of Moda Dea Yarn

I am crazy in love with my Decor Accents Fine Gauge Sock Loom. I am also crazy about Moda Dea Sassy Stripes sock yarn. It works up beautifully on the fine gauge loom. So fine that I've ordered the fine gauge Wonderloom to make all sizes of socks this summer.

Must get busy, my yarn stash is getting out of hand!

Hooked on this...

One thing I find when you're hooked on a hobby....you become a junkie on the supplies you need. You can say I'm a sock yarn junkie; it's so addictive! I have a craft storage box with more colors for more projects this summer. And when I go to A C Moore...gosh it's a heady experience.

Not to mention what kind of trouble I can get into sufing the internet for more yarn! Posted by Picasa

Another Sock!

I started working on this sock the afternoon of the tornado, last Friday May 26. I'm almost finished. Just not in the mood tonight though. Posted by Picasa

Pocket Knife Trouble

I had a nice adventure after work...discovered my tire was going flat while I was visiting the gas station. A nice gentleman put some air in my tire and I headed to a local service station where this pocket knife was pulled from my tire and the hole plugged. The fella that fixed it said he'd never seen this before! Posted by Picasa

Swimming Pool Sweater

I am working on a new cotton sweater on my Bond Ultimate Sweater Machine. This yarn is a beautiful blue called "Swimming Pool." It is very comfortable in the summer and makes up very quickly. Just one of my many hobbies. Posted by Picasa

Matt our Dog

Matt our Dog will be a year old in July. He is a German Shepherd/Collie mix and goodness knows what else. The kids adore him. He is getting less wild and loves to ride in the car when I pick up the kids from school. He is named after the assistant principal at our high school. Posted by Picasa

I'm so glad this storm is over. There was a lot worse damage around us. The neighbor who owns this shed isn't worried; it was a $100 shed he got for free. This truly could have been a lot worse. At least we're okay and didn't lose our power, though it did flash off and on about 5 times.

This is only the second time I've seen hail at our location in 21 years. I estimate this to be marble sized. Posted by Picasa

On the afternoon of May 26, 2006 we experienced a bad storm with heavy winds and hail. This antenna pole snapped. Posted by Picasa
